The DuoParadigms Chronicles: Columbus Edition

By October 10, 2013January 21st, 2014No Comments

At DuoParadigms, we love to embrace new experiences and learn new skills! Sometimes they are big. Sometimes they are small. But regardless, we always want to make the most of them!

We try to recount our adventures on our Facebook & Instagram, but sometimes we need a little more space to share. So join us as we take a look back at our most recent lessons, finds, and ADVENTURES!

Trip to Columbus

Atlanta Airport
Last week, Melanie and I had a chance to fly to Atlanta for the Pure in Heart Conference in Columbus, Georgia. PIH is a ministry near and dear to our hearts, so it was wonderful to spend a few days with their staff. Melanie taught & helped MC the event, while I spent time working on PR & social media projects for Compassionate Hope, the organization that runs PIH.

Melanie & Lyndsey
One of the gals, Lyndsey, who Melanie taught had an especially momentous day. After learning more about Jesus and His love for her, she decided to ask Him into her heart. YAY!

All in all, it was a great trip, filled with special times of fellowship, prayer, and serving the Lord.

Railway Font

We recently came across a font that we really are starting to like! It’s called Railway and has some beautifully unique characters!

The Wild Blue Yonder

Nothing like a plane ride to make you appreciate the wonder of God’s creation! I was reminded once again last week that God really is the Master Painter when it comes to the gorgeous colors in His Creation!

The Southwest Companion Pass

Thanks to the tips we’ve been getting from Million Mile Secrets and The Points Guy, we got our Southwest Companion Pass! For those of you unfamiliar with it, this best-kept airline secret gives you the option of bringing a companion along on a trip, at the cost of only the taxes (usually $5-10 per trip). You can use it as many times as you want and it’s valid for the year you get it, and the following year as well!

New Pantone Swatches

Melanie & Pantone Color Swatches
Melanie was quite excited last week to get her new Pantone color swatches in the mail! These handy little cards are a helpful tool for selecting colors for designs.

Our Awesome Clients

confessions
I LOVE it when our clients “overlap” with each other! Last week at the PIH Conference, I was delighted to see several Moody Publishers books for sale, including this new book by Paula Hendricks. We’ll be launching soon a new website for Moody which will feature Paula’s new book!

The Power of Media

Marlae-GritterI was reminded once again this week of the power of media. Marlae Gritter, ‎the Executive Vice President of Moms In Touch International, is one of the regular conference speakers, but in Columbus she was unable to attend. However, PIH played a recording of one of her previous sessions. I was challenged by many things and two phrases jumped out at me. “Every movie has a message. Every song has a sermon.” Powerful reminder of the importance of edifying media . . . and the dangers associated with our depraved culture.
